In a Bubble

It was really hard to get close enough to these moving bubbles to get a big one that could fill the frame. This is the best one I got, and I am pretty happy with it. After I walked back to the Cascades, I realized photographing the waterfalls would not be very original. I am glad that I stumbled on these little guys downstream so I could make photographs that felt like they were unique and my own. (I'm sure someone has done this before, but they will have to battle me for the title)

This photo was taken at the Muslim Cultural dinner in Tilton Hall. I like this photo because I am attracted to any pictures with a dark background and strong points of light. I also liked the way the reflections from the candles filtered down the black tablecloth. I think that this picture captures the peaceful, reverent atmosphere of the celebration.

Moore State Park

I came across this tractor at Moore State Park in Paxton, MA. If anyone hasn't been there, it is definitely worth the drive. I went there a lot over the summer when I was stressed out from work or needed to get out of the city for a bit. Plus, there is a really cool hill/field that is so wide open you feel like you are on top of the world when you are up there. So that is the habitat for this tractor. What really made me decide to shoot the picture was the way the orange tree in the background perfectly matched the orange on the tractor. Then I zoomed out to force myself to get close to the subject (i may be hearing that in my dreams now haha) and took the picture from about two feet away. This method definitely works though, and I am very happy with how this picture came out.

StART on the Street

This picture was taken at the gathering of Worcester artists called StART on the Street which took place on Sept. 21. I was looking to capture people's reactions to the cardboard box city that had been constructed there. This mother and her son seemed to be standing in awe, but still had walked into the middle of the chaos. That was the best part about the cardboard boxes; the feeling that they were accessible and could be picked up and moved around, but still had a sense of art to them. I only wish that the stores' banners hadn't been caught in the frame, but cropping would have cut off the top of the cardboard tower as well.

Worcester: You may find a comfy chair, but you probably won't want to stay for long.
